soozun @ 08:06 pm: Baby Blanket in black, white, and red colored yarn?
I'm wondering if anyone has tried this before. I keep hearing that infants can be visually stimulated by black, white, and red things such as play mats and toys. For example, there's a really psychedelic looking play mat, a.k.a. "Gymini" made by Tiny Love in these stark colors. It seems weird but evidently it helps the sense of vision develop faster, perhaps even stimulating the brain to develop more?

So has anyone tried to make a baby blanket in red, black and white? Here's a pattern for an IQ Baby Blanket in black, white and red. How do you think this would be received by an expectant mother at her baby shower? She might be sceptical? Or it might be fun and interesting?

I found the link for a Teddy Bear afghan made all of granny squares. I'm wondering if I could make this in black, white, and red for a Panda blankie.

faeriegirl1972 @ 12:26 pm: We need more posts...
I need to post here more. but I really haven't finsihed anything and I was so busy with festivals i just didn't have the time.
I' still working a poncho. I ran out of yarn and have not been to the store to get more. im 24 squares in a 30 square poncho. Hopefully it will be lovely when finished. I have fixed up the top i posted the other day. I its now more of tank top than a halter. I changed the straps made it smaller so it fit better. I'm making a new one, with a blue top and then use more of my cotton granny squares. I only used 12 in the last top I still have about 2 dozen of them in my crochet bag.
What are you guys working on?

faeriegirl1972 @ 11:32 am: *sigh* Too busy to play with my squares...
Red heart year was 1.88 a skein this week. i bought two different colors to make a poncho in my down time. With my day job and getting ready for the renaissance I find I have no down time. Iwork then I go home and work. SIgh. My fingers are just inching to to hooking some squares. I just look at my yarn longingly and sigh hoping to get a spare minute to crochet.

I know this is a simple pattern, but I love it! I make so many afghans this way. This is a baby blanket I made to use up some of my stash.

sumobabe @ 12:57 pm: one color granny square with dc joining instead of slip stitch
Crochet Cabana has posted a new pattern for Granny Squares. In this pattern the square is done in one color for the first 3 rounds, but rather than using a slip stitch to end one round and prepare for the next, a dc is used. Also, she provides information on ending the square.

This is a good site for tutorials if you haven't seen it before.

Hello all, my name is Gina Renay and I just joined the group. In May's issue of Crochet!, www.crochetmagazine.com , on page 30, there is a granny square poncho done in gold metallic yarns. Classy. Also, last week I received a new book called "101 Granny Squares" by Carol Alexander. How much Granny Squares can you handle? Has anyone else seen this book or have it in their possession? I am glad to be a part of this group.
